Grace Totino, Naturopath and Primary school teacher. Children's health and gut health.

Hello.  I am Grace and I am a qualified and certified Naturopath and Primary school teacher. With 30 years of experience as a Primary school teacher, I have seen first-hand how diet and lifestyle affect student learning and focus. Simultaneously, I dedicated 8 years to part-time study whilst teaching, qualifying me as a Naturopath with a Bachelor of Health Science. I am bi-lingual, fluent in both English and Italian.

My lifelong personal struggle with various digestive issues fuelled my passion for health and wellbeing and directed me towards helping the body heal and rediscover the joy of food.

Leveraging my unique blend of experiences, I have a special interest in treating children’s  health concerns and individuals struggling with digestive issues.

I provide non-invasive diet and lifestyle education, and natural prescriptions to help children improve their focus, have more restful sleep, and manage their emotions and energy better.

For those with digestive challenges, I strive to improve digestion, reduce bloating, abdominal pain, and flatulence.

Through detailed case evaluations, I create personalized plans that consider diet, lifestyle, and environment. Depending on individual goals, herbs, teas, homeopathy, or supplements may be prescribed.

Together in health.

What is involved in a consultation?

An initial naturopathic consult consists of a 90-minute session where we have an in-depth discussion and I take a detailed case analysis.  Your health history, family history and current symptoms will all be reviewed.

Some physical examinations will also be performed that are related to your case.

Any medications and supplements that you are taking, any imaging, blood tests or other medical investigation results that you have should be brought to the consultation to allow for detailed analysis.

At the end of the consult, we collaborate and set some health goals.

Your prescription will usually consist of some diet and lifestyle changes and maybe one or two herbs, supplements, or homeopathic remedies.

In my practice I do not like to prescribe more than one or two herbs or supplements as we try and encourage and support the body to heal.

Naturopaths can work with your GP, psychologist, or other health professional to ensure a holistic approach to your health.

Naturopaths can also refer you for further testing if required.  We can refer for a range of tests including blood tests, microbiome testing, faecal testing, food intolerance testing and many others.

Treatment Plan options

When you consult with me, a treatment plan is devised, then discussed and negotiated with you to meet your health needs.  A treatment plan includes treatment goals and can comprise of any of the following:

  • diet and lifestyle recommendations

  • a prescription

  • a referral

  • further testing and investigations.

Prescriptions can include diet and lifestyle adjustments, nutraceuticals, supplements, herbal medicine or homeopathic remedies.

Supplements to support the immune system, digestive system, heart and organs.

Nutraceuticals are dietary supplements that contain nutrients derived from food products. They can come in the form of a concentrated liquid, capsule, powder, or pill form.  They can assist with many biological processes, such as antioxidant defence, cell health, and immune system optimisation.

Herbal medicine for healing and wellbeing.

Herbal medicines contain active ingredients made from plant parts, such as the leaf, flower, stem, seed, root, fruit or bark. Herbs have been used in most traditional medicine for thousands of years and are beneficial in assisting many body systems and health conditions. There have been many studies completed on the benefits of specific herbs for different symptoms and medical conditions.

Homeopathy to aid the body to heal and feel balanced.

Homeopathic medicine was developed in Germany more than 200 years ago. Homeopathic remedies come from natural sources such as plants and minerals and are prepared in accordance with traditional Homeopathic practices. Homeopathic remedies are commonly administered as sugar pellets, drops, creams or tablets. Treatments are prescribed specifically for each person’s individual symptoms, health condition and constitution. By stimulating a person’s own healing ability, homeopathic remedies help the body to return to a healthy state of being.
